Sad to hear about the passing of Nitzer Ebb’s frontman, Douglas McCarthy, a few days ago. I was lucky enough to see them perform years ago here in New York. Three in a row is a lot, Brian Wilson, Sly Stone, and Douglas... R.I.P.

R.I.P. Sly Stone
A true music pioneer. Sly was one of the earliest artists to embrace drum machines in popular music, famously using the Maestro Rhythm King MRK-2 to craft some of his grooviest tracks.
Ironically, his use of drum machines came during a turbulent time marked by drug abuse and distancing within the band—members of Sly and the Family Stone, including drummer Greg Errico, began stepping away. As a result, the machine filled a gap but also sparked a new sound in pop and funk.
Sly Stone was among the first to integrate a drum machine into a mainstream album—another example of how innovation often comes from chaos.
🎶 Rest in power, Sly.

Ok, Ryan Paris was the winner this time, very close with Giorgio Moroder. I might have to explore Utopia soon since it was too close. Cheers!
