After reaching out to NOAA this week about any updates on the mysterious "Golden Egg" specimen found in the Gulf of Alaska last year, they responded with the following info: no updates yet as the specimen is still undergoing DNA testing-- however, they will post an update once the DNA testing is complete.
For now, this specimen remains unexplained.

In honor of spooky season, here's a resurrected underwater horror story from the old days of this channel-- a tale of the sentimental and strange. Appreciators of DSO's soundtrack might recognize two tracks that actually made their first ever appearances in this video: "A Kid Again" and "Purgatory", both by Jim Gifford, who also narrates. Both of these tracks were actually composed specifically for this narration and were later repurposed for DSO...how things come full circle! 💙
Would you like to see more such underwater stories narrated on this channel? Tell us below... 🦑

Recently, I've opted to use more music by one of my absolute favorite composers on YouTube (and in general)-- @Myuu , whose music I've loved for the past 10 years of my life! If you've watched a lot of horror videos on YouTube, you've probably heard his work; if you're a fan of creepypasta narrations like me, you definitely have. Let's hear some love for Myuu in the comments! I'm always thrilled to spread positivity for my favorite artists, especially one who's been such a constant in my YouTube diet for the past decade as Myuu :) 🦑 watch video on watch page

Dear All,
I'm interested in varying up my videos a bit more this year, but what's most important is what you-- the viewers-- want! There are still so many directions this channel's content could go in: for instance, I've been thinking for a while about starting a new line of videos about strange freshwater creatures.
I want to hear your voices! Tell me what you want👀

I love @RedLetterMedia and @MrCreepyPasta so much. I've been sick in bed with covid all week and have been binging these two fave channels of mine that I've been watching for around a decade at this point...it's so comforting when you love a YT channel and they become such a constant in your entertainment diet. Feeling lucky to live in the YouTube era💚🦑

Deepsea Oddities is a safe place where people can come to learn about the mysterious, intriguing, and often totally bizarre forms of life found in the world's oceans. Exploration and discovery of the sea is something that should be universally humanistic, something that binds us all together and makes us wish to discover more. What you see here will likely surprise, startle, and bewilder you, as well as make you ask the fundamental question: what else lurks within the abyss?
