In this era of taking every opportunity I can, yesterday I took another spontaneous trip to NYC, this time to take a class at Broadway Dance Center with THE @cost_n_mayor ! And guess what!?
I completely went down in flames. 🤣 Which isn't ideal when you're in class with dancers whose work you admire, and that's being scouted, no less.
But shit happens 🤷🏼♀️ At no point during that class did I stop trying, even when it was a thought in my mind.
Fortunately for me, I wasn't taking the class to be scouted; I was taking it to learn in person from Cost n' Mayor after already auditioning for their upcoming show. And I definitely took things away from them that I'll bring into classes and into my dancing going forward.

I've been thinking a lot lately about progress, goals, gratitude. Whenever I get jealous of someone who has the job I want, or wish I was further in my career, or feel like I won't get any further than this, it's amazing how easy it is to forget everything I've already achieved. How I've accomplished so many things that I could have only imagined this time last year. This time last summer, I hadn't done any of the things in this reel.
Having more goals doesn't erase the ones that have already been achieved. Having more work to do doesn't erase all the work I've already done. Having more to come just means this journey isn't over yet.

Did y'all know @TheRealAlysonStoner was my very first dance inspiration?
When I was younger, I was obsessed with The Suite Life of Zack and Cody. Like, literally, I would watch it CONSTANTLY. The second I saw Max breakdance, I became fascinated with the idea of learning this combo, prompting a 10-year-old me to teach myself how to breakdance. I used to perform this combo in the school yard in 5th grade, and even did it once in the middle of science class in 8th grade, becoming known as "the shy girl who breakdances" 🤣
From there, I enjoyed anything Alyson did - Disney shows, Camp Rock, Cheaper by the Dozen. Alyson really prompted my interest in dancing growing up (not to mention, there I was in love with Zack Martin, having no idea Alyson was actually this little clueless queer girl's first crush 💀).
Honestly, this dance right here is my origin story. So, I thought the best way to share this would be to try this breakdancing combo 20 years later lol
