I'm working on a hand menu for the Meta Quest 3. I need it for the Smart Duel Gazer to control some settings of the playmat. Didn't find any good tutorials online, so I had to start from scratch. I'm quite happy with the result!

I had the opportunity to test the Apple Vision Pro today. It’s a really great mixed reality headset!
I was really impressed by the eye tracking and hand tracking. The UI is also very clean, as is expected from Apple.
The quality of the camera is higher than that of the Meta Quest 3. I was able to read text on my smartphone and MacBook without any issues. It’s not perfect though, you can still easily tell the difference between reality and the camera output.
There also aren’t a lot of apps available right now. If you open the App Store, one of the apps recommended for the Vision Pro is Microsoft Excel. Not very exciting 😅.
It’s a cool toy, but I wouldn’t buy one myself. I still believe the Quest 3 is the better buy.

I’m at #Unite2023 in Amsterdam, honing my game dev / XR dev skills. The keynote was great, but I’m mostly looking forward to the talks about the Meta Quest 3 and the Apple Vision Pro!

Physical Duel Playmat update! I managed to connect 8 NFC sensors to the Raspberry Pi. They lit up like a Christmas Tree, it was beautiful! 🎄
Now I need to find a way place the red squares (= NFC sensors) underneath the zones of a playmat, and then it's ready to be used!

I have always been fuelled by my passion for AR, and three years ago, I took my first steps into this captivating world. While working on the Smart Duel Project (back in the day it was known as Project A.T.E.M.), there were moments when I felt overwhelmed. I realised that I needed a solid foundation in AR development to truly excel in this field.
That's when I decided to embark on an incredible learning journey by enrolling in the Meta AR Developer program on Coursera. Over the past couple of weeks, I have:
🔍 Explored diverse use cases for AR
🎨 Created captivating AR filters for FB / Instagram using Meta Spark
🌐 Navigated the world of WebAR, using PlayCanvas as my canvas
📱 Crafted AR apps for Android & iOS with Unity's ARFoundation
💼 Dived into the Vuforia SDK, exploring its various capabilities
The journey was intense, and the knowledge I gained is invaluable. Today, I'm thrilled to share that I have successfully obtained the Meta AR Developer Professional Certificate!
For now, this newfound knowledge and confidence will serve me well while when I work on the Smart Duel Gazer. Yet, who knows? Perhaps one day, my AR skills will make their way into my professional journey.
