Despite his immense talent, heโs still not a permanent part of the ODI or T20Is setup, while Shubman Gill is already the captain in ODIs and Tests, and the vice-captain in T20Is.
Whatโs even sadder is that Jaiswal doesnโt get the same hype or backing โ maybe just because he isnโt as โcamera-friendlyโ or conventionally good-looking as Gill. And if you actually compare their stats across formats, Jaiswalโs numbers are better than Gillโs in almost every aspect.๐๐ฎ๐ณ

Whatโs the point of a 30 year old Shreyas Iyer being the deputy to a 26 year old Shubman Gill? The vice-captain is usually the one being groomed to take over after the current captain steps down. Iyer genuinely deserved the captaincy, tbh. Also, Iyer should have been the T20I captain after SKY, not Gill. Gambhir and Agarkar are clearly doing favouritism towards Gill.
Whenever Shreyas Iyer retires, people will remember him for standing strong against politics and favoritism. He never tried to please anyone, he just let his game and confidence speak. Iyer had everything it takes to be a true leader, far more deserving of the captaincy than Gill.
