Any soccer fans around? â˝â˝â˝
The Copa do Brasil had a very emotional final this Sunday, with a bit of Flamengo X SĂŁo Paulo rivalry that goes way back! In fact, when the German guest Daniel joined our reality series Enjoying Rio, he had the opportunity to experience Brazilian soccer in person, watching a match between these two clubs in no other than the MaracanĂŁ Stadium.
Built over 75 years ago, the stadium has hosted several World Cup matches, it has been the venue for massive concerts including a Rock in Rio edition with headliners such as Guns Nâ Roses, Prince, and George Michael, and held both opening and closing ceremonies of the 2016 Olympics. Did you know that the music video Funk Rave, winner of yesterdayâs MTV Video Music Awards for Best Latin, was shot in a favela in Rio de Janeiro? The artist Anitta, from Rio herself, often talks about demystifying life in the slums, or favelas, which she identifies as her culture and where she comes from.
In the second episode of our reality series Enjoying Rio, the charismatic Eric guides us through a day in Rocinha, one of the largest slums in the world, with the same mission: showing outsiders a glimpse of his community. From graffiti and capoeira out in the streets to the inside of a family home, the visitors are amazed by the liveliness of the favela.
