Quick update to let you all know that after 2.5 years of travelling full time making YouTube videos Iā€™m taking an extended break right now to apply for jobs / restart my career in banking / hang out with my brother in Louisiana.

While many people dream of being able to travel and make money from travel content, it becomes quite tiring when you rely on travelling full time for your income.

You canā€™t really take breaks / stop travelling / have as much fun making videos and you donā€™t have the ability to stay in one place and build stable friendship groups / be open to having a family.

Iā€™m not quitting YouTube or this channel. I still love making videos, going on adventures, and bringing you all along with me, but I am taking an extended pause on making new videos right now. I need to make sure Iā€™m setting myself up for long term stability and happiness.

I will be posting shorts from some existing videos and I will post the full Ā„1 round the world challenge series so you will get to see what happened. Itā€™ll probably come out in a couple of months from now as one MEGA video.

Just wanted to let you all know that Iā€™m still alive and Iā€™m super grateful to you for sticking with me over the last few years. See you soon.

Hey everybody,

Over the last few months Iā€™ve taken some time to reflect on what I want to create on this channel. I love travelling, but I wanted to make content with a bigger challenge in mind.

I know many people dream of travelling the world, but money is a constant constraint. So I wanted to make a series that would get people to think differently about this.

On 4th March I started filming a new video series where I attempt to travel around the whole world in 80 days, from Tokyo to Texas, starting with only Ā„1. I wanted to see whether this would be possible and maybe encourage people who want to travel to do it despite the limitations.

Iā€™ve spoken to thousands of people over the last 24 days, in 4 countries, and one thing Iā€™ve learned is that if you tell people about a big dream that you have, and you ask them for a small favour, the vast majority of people will try to help you achieve it, no matter which country they come from.

Iā€™ll be posting a video from every day of the challenge showing exactly how much Iā€™ve spent and earned each day. All food, accommodation and transport is being paid for from profits from the Ā„1 I started with on day 1.

Iā€™ve started posting the videos on my channel and the first 4 days are now live. Go give them a watch if youā€™re interested.

Hereā€™s the link for Day 1:

I Survived On Ā„1 For 80 Days

Iā€™m also raising money for save the children through this series so Iā€™m also encouraging you to dig deep and donate to provide kids with learning materials.

Thanks so much for reading. I appreciate all the support youā€™ve all given me the last couple of years and I hope you come on this journey with me.

Travelling can take itā€™s toll on your health.

Actually, bad habits can form anywhere, but itā€™s been difficult for me to maintain good habits while constantly moving.

Thankfully, I decided to stop drinking alcohol on 31st October last year. Iā€™ve only got a few weeks to go until I hit my 1 year anniversary off the sauce.

It was difficult at first, but I just assumed a new identity. I told myself ā€œI donā€™t drinkā€ and would repeat that to myself and others anytime I was tempted or offered.

Now itā€™s just second nature, doesnā€™t appeal to me.

I also smoked cigarettes when drunk, and occasionally while sober. I managed to stop that completely in March too. So now Iā€™m nicotine free also.

The mind is a funny thing. I used to think ā€œhard week, I deserve a drinkā€, ā€œtough day, Iā€™ll have a cigaretteā€.

But this past year Iā€™ve managed to switch my mindset to say, ā€œI deserve not to smokeā€ and ā€œI deserve not to drinkā€, because I want to treat myself well.

That said, thereā€™s one thing that Iā€™ve had trouble with my whole life, and thatā€™s food.

I love food so much and I never know when to stop. My weight has yo-yod most of my adult life. For me thereā€™s really nothing better than feeling full after eating until my heartā€™s content.

Over the last two weeks Iā€™ve started intermittent fasting, and I think Iā€™ve finally found the perfect lifestyle for me.

I fast for 22 hours every day only drinking water / coffee / tea, and then for 2 hours between 5pm - 7pm I can stuff my stomach as full as I like šŸ¤£

I know it sounds extreme but our bodies evolved to endure long periods without food and we need this rest to burn fat.

Iā€™m already seeing and feeling the benefits of eating in this way and I canā€™t wait to see how I feel when I reach 1 year anniversary of fasting.

Telling myself, ā€œI deserve not to eat (all the time)ā€ is a game changer.

Itā€™s not for everyone and Iā€™m not a doctor but Iā€™d recommend people to look into it if you struggle with your weight like me.

In truth, this post is really just a statement of intent, and a request that no-one invites me out for lunch in the futureāœŒšŸ»

Anywayā€¦ hereā€™s a picture of me yesterday after ordering wayyyyyy too much food at 5pm šŸ•”

Happy Onam to all the Keralites out there.

This harvest festival celebrates the annual return of King Mahabali who, after being favoured by Lord Vishnu, brings bountiful food to his Kingdom of Kerala during the Onam period, especially today Thiruvonam.

I came here especially so that I could enjoy the Sadya meal with the people of Kochi. Iā€™ll be posting the Vlog on my YouTube channel soon so watch out for that. Just search Phil Bland if you havenā€™t already and hit subscribe.

For now, here are a few pictures of me with a beautiful Pookalam, a flower design with 10 concentric circles representing the 10 days of the Onam holiday.

Iā€™m so so happy for my Kenyan friend ā€Ŗ@dolphine254ā€¬ to have a new GoPro, proud of my Ugandan friend ā€Ŗ@ugconnectā€¬ for making this video happen, and thankful to his mystery subscriber.

If any of my new subscribers from Pakistan series would like to get to know some amazingly kind hearted content creators from Africa, I highly recommend checking out their videos and subscribing to their channels. Watch the video below to get to know my beautiful friends šŸ„²šŸ„²šŸ„²šŸ„°

The world may be big and oceans divide us but kind acts like this have the power to bring us all closer together.

Hey everybody šŸ‘‹

Iā€™m thinking about a logo and making some merchandise (t-shirts, caps, mugs etc) for the channel.

Iā€™m pretty bad at graphic design lol but I put this little image / typography together as a basic idea for the logo.

I wanted to get your thoughts? Would you buy it and wear it?

I think my channel represents
- quitting restrictive plans and going on adventures
- accepting whatever happens when you follow your instincts
- accepting that we will never be able to know the future, so plans will never work out exactly as we hope
- taking action is so much more important than over thinking the next steps
- living in the moment instead of worrying too much about the future
- not knowing who youā€™ll meet, but when you encounter each individual you show them love

The logo on top of the D shows the impact that one individual living life in an Unplanned way can have on their family friends community country and eventually on the whole world.

Thatā€™s what Iā€™m trying to do with this channel showing my experiences on an individual basis and hopefully it encourages others to be a little less worried about the future or less scared about adventuring out into the world with an open heart.

And I hope that when people wear this Unplanned brand, this is what they will feelā€¦

Please let me know what you think in the comments ā¤ļø
