From its beginnings in London's Soho during the mid-60's, a new distinctly British sound arose. This gave start to many blues-influenced musicians such as Eric Clapton, Long John Baldry, John Mayall, Jeff Beck, Jimmy Page and Jack Bruce. The Rolling Stones, Humble Pie, Savoy Brown and Led Zeppelin also gained exposure as a result of this sound. This form of blues then became massively popular in the U.S., leading to the British Invasion. This influential British blues style and its devotees bestowed upon us the sound that ultimately became Classic Rock.
