Our first backpacking together! I learned more about Harper when we went on backpacking this past weekend. She is terrified by the sound of the tarp, so I wasn't able to sleep most of the night trying to calm her down while there's a breeze blowing on the tent. But at the end of the trip, I pretty much enjoyed waking up to a beautiful view! As soon as we got home, Harper and I were knocked out on the couch π ππ

I had a blast drinking by the beach and watching the sunset till dark. I like these kinds of rest days! Two years ago, I considered living in Mexico when I was traveling the area of Quintana Roo. I jump from place to place and island to island for two weeks. Almost got certified for scuba diving down there. I would love to do it all over again!

Fossil Creek, baby! I love it whenever I cross something on my bucket list. Too bad I wasn't able to go inside the cave with turquoise water because the current was strong and I'm not a good swimmer. So, this one is not really crossed out on my list. I need to go back and bring a floatie with me! ππ
I still need to check out the other parts of the fossil creek. After the hike, I camped just right outside of Strawberry.

To my surprise, when I looked at the map to see what's around, I saw that there's a national monument really closeby! So I didn't waste any time after breakfast at the camp. As soon as they opened, I was at the visitor entrance π
I have learned a lot from this visit! It was amazing to witness the remnants of the people who lived here 700 years ago. I would love to visit the upper cliff dwelling in November when they reopened.

I had a chance to climb Brown's Peak, finally! It was a great day. Lots of lupine flowers and other wild flowers around. There were dead trees blocking the trail, but it was an easy detour around it.The wind is strong, but it was actually good since it wasn't hot. It was a perfect day to hike the mountain. Beautiful scenery everywhere I look! I was humbled with the surrounding, it calms my soul. Oh, how I love to be out and about, exploring nature.

I miss this weather in San Diego! I got to paddle board at the bay. You could tell that the boats were anchored here for a while due to those bird nests on top or inside the boat π
I just stayed at the marine area because the wind at the bridge is strong that it'll be hard for me to return. Again, I took advantage of being here for some good tacos!

I went to Rosarito, Mexico, just for lunch π Just kidding. I needed to pick up something in Mexico, and of course, who visits Mexico without eating local food? I miss these delicious local tacos! After eating by the beach, I walked at the streets of Rosarito, not much changed since the last time I visited.

The last stop of the road trip, Lake Mead. Stayed here for a night to rest and finish the 4 hour drive the next day. It was an amazing night camping aside from the two troublemakers I met at the area. They keep on visiting every car and rvs around. I didn't even know they were conducting a checkpoint on the way out π

π Capitol Reef National Park
β¨οΈ Re-visited the Capitol Reef to check out the blooming orchards. Unfortunately, there is none yet. They're a little late this year. So I decided to go on a hike to see the Hickman Bridge.
β‘οΈ Hickman Natural Bridge is one of the known sites in Capitol Reef National Park. It is a 1.8-mile hike out and back. The hike along the way has some great scenic views that you wouldn't realize you're almost at the said natural bridge. Halfway going to Hickman Bridge is another set of small bridges called Nels Johnson Natural Bridges. The hike is from easy to moderate, so it is hood for kids and beginners.
β
οΈ Always bring at least 3 liters of water even on this short trail as it is getting really hot, especially in the middle of the day.

Hello guys, my name is Mary! I began my hiking journey when I was in Hawaii and it was the perfect place to fall in love with hiking! After I moved to California, I met my dear friend Ana. She taught me the basic things needed to navigate the land. She showed me amazing places around Southern California. Within a few years, the dream to experience and explore different parts of the world had consumed me. I am now sharing this joy and love for travel and exploration with you through my videos and posts. I hope you guys like it as much as I do!
