Yikes! I'll always own up to my mistakes, and a couple of very talented and astute small engine gurus pointed out I placed the gauge in the last post on the wrong side. Here's the correct measurement. The metering lever is too high! Regardless, this carb would require much fiddling to run right, if at all from the factory with such sloppy QC. THanks guys :) ( you know who you are)

I tend to avoid aftermarket carbs for many reasons. This one has a janky inlet screen, crinkled and pinched with the pump diaphragm, along with a metering lever that is about 1/2mm too low. No amount of fiddling with the adjustment screws will make this blower run well. QC is definitely not a priority.

No need to go to the gym this week. I pulled, and pulled, and pulled, and pulled, and PULLED on the starter cord till my arm felt like it was like jello. The real disappointment was I discovered this only after I already put it completely back together after replacing the broken pull cord. Took it apart for a second time... Ugh!!! #briggsandstratton

This mower will struggle to run right, see how the float is not level with the lip of the carburetor? The problem is the float will cut off the fuel supply prematurely. Replacing the needle seat, one of those tiny rubber donuts in the second photo fixes the problem. The third pic is after the rubber seat was replaced. Mow Happy!

A superb stocking stuffer!
I recently purchased a GREAT little Channellock® screwdriver, just for adjusting small carburetors. It's made in the USA, cabinet tip (not flared) 1/8" x 3" (3mm X 75mm) nice grippy handle. Less expensive than the Stihl branded one.
You can get yours here: amzn.to/3Ry0woz (yes, that's an affiliate link, thank you for supporting my channel and don't pay a penny more) Happy Holidays !!!

I like fixing small engines. Basic maintenance to advanced repair tutorials.
I started years ago working on antique motor scooters, Vespa, Lambretta. One thing led to another, friends and family asked my help on lawn mowers and small engine repairs. 15 years or so later...
My wish is I can empower you: the DIYer, the homeowner, yes - even all you gals out there to understand and even fix your own small engines. Even if you don't know what end of the screwdriver to hold, you can possess enough knowledge to ask the right questions when you do take your lawn equipment into another repair shop.
I feel this is so important, as we have become a throwaway society. Many USA manufacturers have gone overseas for production. Materials and craftsmanship are inferior than they were even ten years ago. If you take care of that older mower, it stays out of the landfill. That older one will outlast most any new mower from the big box stores today.
Most of all, I enjoy helping people. Mow Happy!
