An Empty Plate at Thanksgiving: Honoring Dad's Memory (1941-2024)
The aroma of roasted turkey and warm pie filling the air usually signals a joyous Thanksgiving celebration. But this year, the scent carries a poignant reminder of an empty chair at the table. Dad, the heart of our Thanksgiving traditions, passed away on May 21nd, 2024, leaving a void no amount of delicious side dishes can fill. He was 83 years old, a lifetime rich with experiences and a love that continues to warm our hearts.
This post is a tribute to him, a way to revisit some of the cherished Thanksgiving memories we shared. From the playful competition over who mastered the gravy recipe (it was always Dad, hands down) to the echoes of laughter as we recounted the year's adventures, these moments will forever be a source of comfort and inspiration.
This Thanksgiving may be laced with sadness, but Dad's spirit lives on in the traditions he nurtured. We'll (my family and I) raise a toast in his memory, expressing our profound gratitude for the love, laughter, and the foundation of family values he built.
