The soil in Northeastern Pennsylvania possesses something special. This magical dirt has propelled the Greater Pittston Area into gardening stratosphere. So much so, that Pittston proclaims to be the "Quality Tomato Capital of the World", and yearly hosts the wildly popular Pittston Tomato Festival. 40 to 50 years ago, nearly EVERY patch of yard had some form of a garden. To most Italian immigrants that settled here, it was a way of life. As the generations grew and technology entered the picture, many of the old family traditions, including gardening, began to disappear. That is........until NOW. The Garden Goombas are making gardening cool again. These two Italians, Joey aka Cuzzie, and Dr. Frank, bring the fun back to fertilizer. Their garden tips, "on location" visits, and potted community hijinks are quite amusing, and if you pay attention, you may even learn something. Their Mission Statement is to "end World hunger........one garden at a time."
