The short version (Youtube limits the description length, and has eliminated the discussion section): when I was a wee lad in the early 1970's, I managed to finagle a bunch of old TV commercials on 16 mm film. This happened when my uncle and I were sneaking/talking our way up towards the highest floors of downtown Los Angeles' skyscrapers (security was not as big a concern back then.) We had managed to get to the top floor of one of the tallest, but there was only a small window in the foyer area. We were trying to get a picture when a manager from the (name redacted) advertising agency, which occupied the entire floor, asked what we were doing. We explained, and she let us photograph from her corner office. In there, I saw a large back of what turned out to be commercials scheduled to be discarded. As only an 8-year old could, I asked if I could have them. She said yes.
And now, about 45 years later, I'm sharing them on Youtube.
