Born in Canada in 1971, he came to Kyoto after a short-lived professional soccer career as a 22-year-old and has spent more than half of his life and nearly three decades living there. He is a mixed-media artist of "the floating world" www.petermacintosh.com and the owner of the boutique travel and leisure company www.kyotosightsandnights.com .When not looking for new experiences, culinary or otherwise, he spends most of his time researching, playing, documenting and living amongst the geiko/maiko (geisha) in Kyoto's Hanamachi(geisha districts).
