There are over 50 MILLION family caregivers across the US, let alone the millions of unpaid family caregivers world-wide. Most adult kids or spouses get thrust into the role of family caregiving without ever having any family meeting about the "what whens" of aging. Family caregiving, dementia, aging in general is impacting society as a whole---from employees leaving the workforce in droves, taking early retirement, not taking job promotions because of caregiving responsibilities. We also have quality healthcare workers leaving the industry in droves due to toxic work culture and burnout. Abuse and neglect is at an all time high due to lack of quality and consistent leadership, management and supervision of healthcare workers. This podcast will address the aging population, the toll of family caregiving, aging planning, the landscape of senior care, what to expect as dementia progresses, and how all of these issues impact families and retirement planning/finances.
