ITā€™S BEEN SO LONG SINCE, I MADEā€¦
Decorated cookies, but I didnā€™t want to miss this chance! I made 3 dozen McDonaldā€™s themed cookies for my cousin whoā€™s moving away to start her own franchise. These cookies were hard work, but fun to create (especially the nuggets)! She is such and inspiration, and I wish her ALL the success in this new chapter of her life! šŸ’«

This was my ā€œbakeā€ from last week, and Iā€™m sure you were probably busy as well. What did you bake over the weekend? What are you baking this week? Comment below and tell us all about it!

STORY TIME: Letā€™s talk about standing firmā€¦

Earlier this month, I was contacted by someone I had done cakes for the past. This person called me and left a voice message and I responded a day later with a text, then another text a few days after that. Long story short: She needed a cake for her daughterā€™s milestone birthday, but there was never clarification on the date or the design.

After she promised to get back me, several days went by and I didnā€™t hear from her again until the middle of last week. She finally told me that the cake was needed on May 23rd and then described the complex cake design that her daughter wanted. This was news to meā€¦

I have a strict 2-week notice policy and I struggled with this one because I had made a few cakes for this client in the past. Soā€¦ What did I do?

I had to tell her ā€œnoā€. When she offered to pick it up a day later and said that her daughter only wanted me to make the cakeā€¦. I doubled down and declined again. I felt bad, but I also felt good that I was able to uphold my own boundary! Had this person not waited until a week before and communicated properly about when she needed the cake sooner (which I had asked about earlier in the month and never got a response), perhaps the outcome would have been different.

All this to say: Hold firm to your boundaries and donā€™t allow others procrastination to become an ā€œemergencyā€ on your part! šŸ’«

About this photo: This cookie was one design that I made for my youngest sonā€™s 1st birthday some years ago. šŸ’™
