John Johnson Jr., stage name Jay Squared was born & raised in Detroit MI. Jay's goals within his career has always been to push the boundaries of the culture and blend sounds eclectically into an unconventional audio journey.

Flirting with the lines between poetry at a young age and experimenting in different sub-genres of hip hop, Jay Squared has advanced his sound through his work within and out of his native city. He's landed on publications such as Complex, Lyrical Lemonade, Elevator & multiple local publications like Metro Times and others. Jay has cultivated a fan base across the world by working with producers such as Whyandotte, "meltycanon", Tomppabeats, Rook1e, mt.fujitive & many other phenomenal artists.
