On May 30, 1431, Joan of Arc was burned at the stake in Rouen's Old Marketplace at just 19 years old. Captured in battle and sold to the English, she faced numerous charges, from heresy to wearing men's clothes. It was her refusal to abandon the latter that sealed her fate, as her interrogators saw it as a sign of relapsing into heresy.
Her bravery and conviction continue to inspire us.

Inscribed in ancient times, during the reign of Pharaoh Djoser of the Third Dynasty in around 2600 BC, the Famine Stela unveils a poignant tale from Egypt's past. Discovered in 1888 amid the ruins of Memphis near modern-day Cairo, this artifact chronicles a harrowing seven-year famine that gripped the kingdom. As the Nile River withheld its floods for consecutive years, crops failed, and hunger plagued the land, thrusting the populace into despair.
Amidst the turmoil, Pharaoh Djoser turned to his trusted advisor, Imhotep, seeking counsel in the face of adversity. Imhotep, wise and revered, urged Djoser to beseech the god Khnum, the divine guardian of the Nile's source. In a divine revelation, Khnum appeared to Djoser, instructing him to embark on a sacred mission—to erect a new temple and reinstate the worship of the gods.
In obedience to Khnum's guidance, Djoser initiated the construction of the iconic Step Pyramid at Saqqara—a monumental feat that would endure through the ages. Through this act of devotion and reverence, Djoser hoped to appease the gods and secure the kingdom's salvation.
The Famine Stela venerates Djoser's piety and sagacity, attributing the cessation of the famine to his devout actions. It serves as a testament to the profound connection between the pharaoh and the divine, underscoring the pivotal role of royal piety in safeguarding the prosperity and welfare of the realm.
