Flor Cuenca watched the sunrise from the summit of Dhaulagiri. It was her fifth 8,000’er. As always, she climbed without supplementary O2.
Cuenca, 44, defines herself as a Himalayan Cinderella. Born in Peru, she has few sponsors. Instead, she works hard in Germany to earn enough money to climb, usually on a shoestring budget. her climbs are proof that wanting is power.

Congratulations!

Simone Moro explains in a Bulgarian interview, why he didn't climb K2 this year:

"In the last 2 years, when I saw that no one was successful on K2 in the winter, I said to myself: maybe .. The problem was that there were too many people in the last 2 years trying K2, and this couldn't be a goal for an experienced and strong climber, it had become a goal for a wider audience. It didn't mean it couldn't happen, I treat everyone with great respect, everyone can dream and try, but knowing K2, knowing that there is not enough space to the high camps, that you cannot go and do what you want when you want with all the people there, because many times you will have to wait in line, I understand what any experienced mountaineer can understand. Because if you arrive in a high camp later, you may not find a place for your tent anymore, you can't move faster and so on. And I said to myself - oh no, it's not for me. Also, I like to go alone in the winter, or at least have very few people around , to feel like the explorers of the past or. And when I thought there were so many people at base camp, that wasn't what I wanted. I respect everyone else, but I said to myself: this peak is not for me this year, let someone else go and climb K2, you can go later, whether it has already been climbed or not ".
