The second position can feel like no man's land on the violin, BUT... if you get proficient in it, it comes in really handy especially in an orchestra. Read all about the second position including some handy exercises: violinlounge.com/article/violin-second-position-al…
PS: This finger chart is just to make thinks visual and wrap your head around it. I encourage playing and finding notes by ear and am not suggesting 'painting' all these dots on your violin (as some seemed to think in my earlier post)

Are you a complete beginner to the violin? Let's talk about the first notes you learn on the violin and how to find them. My blog series about position play starts with the first position and even though I'm not a fan of finger tapes, I will even show those: violinlounge.com/article/violin-first-position-exp…

After a year of hard work I’m proud to be a certified Colourstrings Music Kindergarten Teacher! (with distinction 🤩) Not only can I teach little ones better (even from birth); I have also broadened my skills as a music teacher and musician in general and learned a lot about the Kodaly approach to music.
It’s great to be in the Colourstrings ecosystem, where the method for early years seamlessly connects to instrumental teaching. My oldest twins (5yo) are learning violin and piano in ColourStrings and ColourKeys, while the youngest three get a strong musical foundation with Singing Rascals and more. Besides being the matriarch of a musical household, I’m excited to infuse my work with my new skills and explore new opportunities.
Thanks to the lovely ladies of Colourstrings Scotland for the amazing training. Check them out if you want to teach early childhood music.
As the Kodaly approach to music involves LOTS of singing, my next step is to improve my voice. Today I had my very first singing lesson with the lovely mezzo Judith van den Dool.

Do you desire to play the violin beautifully? To express yourself in music and touch people's hearts?
You're in the right place! Welcome to VIOLIN LOUNGE by Violinist Zlata!
My name is Zlata Brouwer, a performing classical violinist living in Holland.
As a violin teacher I'm specialized in bowing technique and vibrato. Creating a professional sound and playing with confidence and freedom are skills EVERYBODY can learn and I'm looking forward teaching YOU exactly how.
On this channel I publish a new video at least every Wednesday. Most of the times this is a violin lesson, but sometimes it's a performance video of me and my music friends, an interview with an inspiring violinist or a product review.
