I’m taking everything Violin Lounge offline 😲

Did I grab your attention?

Is it true then?

Uuuuuh, in fact... YES!

Here’s a look behind the scenes of the most amazing husband and dad of seven building a brand new platform for Violin Lounge.

For the last years I've been struggling with that Violin Lounge is a bit outdated, a bit slow and my software and hosting costs keep rising and rising to the point I can hardly cover them.

You might not know that my husband is a top notch IT specialist. Now he found some great technology to make a much better website and academy… independent of expensive software companies.

We're going to renew the whole thing... 2,000+ videos and much much more.

For you it means that it will be faster, better, easier to find and my free and paid resources and courses will get you faster progress on the violin.

For us it means some hard work in our ‘mom and pop store’. Imagine that I'm managing a household with seven kids of five years and younger (without help of family or daycare) and my husband has a more-than-fulltime corporate job. In the evenings when the kids are in bed, in the small pocket of time until our own bedtime, we're running a little start up in our basement, hahaha! Everything will be coded from scratch. It will take months before the launch of the new platform, but it's very exciting and I will keep you up to date.

If you’ve read so far, you might also be willing to help me a bit. To launch my new website it's very beneficial to have reviews on Trustpilot. If you're happy with my free and/or paid videos and resources,
could you PLEASE leave a five star review for me? Here's the link:
www.trustpilot.com/review/violinlounge.com

If you feel your experience is less than five stars, please don't write a review, but send me a message, so I can actually fix it and help you further.

Special announcement: I’ve stopped playing the violin, sold all my violins and from now on I’ll be focussing 100% on the viola.

The second position can feel like no man's land on the violin, BUT... if you get proficient in it, it comes in really handy especially in an orchestra. Read all about the second position including some handy exercises: violinlounge.com/article/violin-second-position-al…

PS: This finger chart is just to make thinks visual and wrap your head around it. I encourage playing and finding notes by ear and am not suggesting 'painting' all these dots on your violin (as some seemed to think in my earlier post)

Are you a complete beginner to the violin? Let's talk about the first notes you learn on the violin and how to find them. My blog series about position play starts with the first position and even though I'm not a fan of finger tapes, I will even show those: violinlounge.com/article/violin-first-position-exp…

After a year of hard work I’m proud to be a certified Colourstrings Music Kindergarten Teacher! (with distinction 🤩) Not only can I teach little ones better (even from birth); I have also broadened my skills as a music teacher and musician in general and learned a lot about the Kodaly approach to music.

It’s great to be in the Colourstrings ecosystem, where the method for early years seamlessly connects to instrumental teaching. My oldest twins (5yo) are learning violin and piano in ColourStrings and ColourKeys, while the youngest three get a strong musical foundation with Singing Rascals and more. Besides being the matriarch of a musical household, I’m excited to infuse my work with my new skills and explore new opportunities.

Thanks to the lovely ladies of Colourstrings Scotland for the amazing training. Check them out if you want to teach early childhood music.

As the Kodaly approach to music involves LOTS of singing, my next step is to improve my voice. Today I had my very first singing lesson with the lovely mezzo Judith van den Dool.
