Alternatively you could join James to cast your own Bronze Age sword, or spend the weekend learning how to knap flint!

We've been quiet for a while but that doesn't mean we've disappeared...

In fact it's quite the opposite! Em's had a busy year of filming for several projects that are now sitting on her editing desk. She'll be working her way through them over the next couple of months and we're looking forward to revamping the channel soon.

For now, happy knapping!

Em and I are excited to be a part of the Hertiage fund project at Stanwick Lakes to connect the site to its ancient past.

Over the course of the next few months James will be working alongside a group of volunteers to create a Bronze Age Log Boat using authentic tools, while Em will be capturing and documenting the process to create a Legacy film that will feature in the Heritage Zone for years to come.

Find out more in the BBC News article featuring a sneak peak at some of Em's photographs from the project so far:

Tonight at 19:00(GMT+1), Mark Knight and I take a closer look at the incredible Must Farm Box!

Post excavation analysis of these items have helped archaeologists identify the tree species that were being used at the time to create these artefacts! When the artefact was uncovered, the first question everyone wanted to know was "Is there anything inside?"...

Last weekend, the new AncientCraft HQ welcomed our first guests! The first Ötzi Experience Workshop pilot was a great success and it was fantastic to see the space come alive making flint knives, lime bast sheathes and casting copper axeheads!

We're looking forward to running our next Ötzi weekend and are already plotting and planning new dates. Rumour has it there are some prehistoric jet & amber jewellery workshops also coming soon!

Watch this space and sign up to our newsletter for future dates...

Join us tonight at 19:00(GMT+1) for our next installment of Making Must Farm!

In this episode, Mark Knight & Dr. James Dilley take a closer look at the bronze razors that were found at the site. Razors are conventionally interpreted as part of elite male culture, chiefly on the strength of an association with male burials however there may be more to their story than meets the eye...

Over the Easter weekend we had the chance to revisit our Neanderthal stomping grounds from our filming with Attenboro's Mammoth Graveyard doc! With the weather in our side, I was able to capture some drone footage for some future AncientCraft videos. The landscape is incredible in Northern Scotland and is very reminiscent of the kind of landscape the UK would have shared in the Palaeolithic.

We also caught up with some of our Neanderthal clan over a hot meal and a few beverages. We still can't believe how lucky we were with the weather! 🌞🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿

Tomorrow we're back to bring you the 5th episode of the Making Must Farm series - look forward to seeing you at 19:00(GMT+1)!

Make your OWN Ötzi knife, sheath & copper axe!

We have couple of spaces left on our Ötzi Weekend workshop in Norfolk on the 15-16th April...

Our weekend will begin at the new AncientCraft workshop, with an introductory talk on the 5,300 year old ice mummy that became one of the most important archaeological discoveries of the 20th century in Europe. The rest of Saturday will feature a flintknapping workshop where you’ll be introduced to the basics of flintknapping to make simple flake tools like scrapers, saws and piercers before moving on to flaking a knife blade. In the afternoon, we will haft your finished flint blade and begin the process of twinning plant fibres to make his knife sheath.

On Saturday we’ll have the furnace going and you’ll all have the opportunity to cast your own copper axe head. With Em’s guidance, you’ll make a mould and help James in the courtyard to charge the furnace with copper and charcoal before using the leather bellows to melt the metal at around 1200͒C. You will be given guidance at all stages and have a couple of practice runs before you cast your own copper axe head. Once cast, you’ll clean the axe and begin to work-harden the blade so it's ready to use!

Join us at 19:00 (GMT+1)Join as Mark Knight and Dr. James Dilley take a closer look at another familar woodworking tool that has not changed much in 5000 years!

The number and variety of gouge types found at Must Farm suggests they were used for different types or stages of woodworking from creating joints to finishing bowls. This is supported by gouge marks still visible on wood found around the site.
