Ladies, gentlemen, and everyone in between....... we have a winner to my 1,000 subscriber giveaway/scholarship for an LCSW study program. Please meet Sarah. Sarah gave me permission to share her written statement:
"As a young, single mom I had no idea what direction my life was heading or how I'd manage to survive. All I knew was that life was moving forward and I needed to determine how I'd provide for my daughter.
During a counseling appointment with my academic advisor (who was an LMSW) we explored my passions. I wanted to make the world a better place for future generations and felt fiercely about social justice. I reflected on my turbulent teenage years, personal history of trauma and loss, and knew I wanted to transform my experience into healing for others.
The advisor suggested the field of social work. We explored the pros and cons together. The field was broad, meaning I'd have the opportunity to work with diverse populations in a number of different settings. We explored the Code of Ethics, which immediately resonated with my own personal values and objectives.
By the end of our session, I felt committed to the journey ahead of becoming a social worker. I put myself through school, applying for every grant and scholarship I could find. I graduated with my LMSW in 2019 and am now less than 300 hours away from my LCSW clinical requirements.
Life kept moving forward and continues to do so. Luckily, I found my passion and purpose in service to others and the field of social work."
Thank you Sarah for your amazing contribution to our social work field! Those you help will benefit so much from your advocacy!

I can’t believe that my channel is approaching 1,000 subscribers!! 🤭😱🤗 It is unreal to think that 1,000 people tune in to hear what I have to say! I’m gunna get real with you all… As someone who has personally and professionally struggled with social anxiety due to a history of trauma… I NEVER thought I could ever be a teacher because I was so afraid and fearful of talking in front of anyone… I can’t articulate into words the emotional pain of having a passion but being held back from that passion due to fear/trauma…
This channel/platform means SOOOOO much to me because it has given me the chance to practice my teaching skills (plus personal therapy) that I will take with me into being a Psych professor as I am in the process of obtaining my Ph.D. I love contributing to the growth of aspiring licensed social workers!
I want to give back to my subscribers so when I reach 1,000 subscribers I will do a give a way for my new complete LCSW Study guide:
www.talkitouttherapy.com/product-page/social-work-…
The rules are:

2. Follow me on Instagram: @mentalhealthwithmelissa

4. Leave your email in the comment.
And that’s it! Once I reach 1,000 subscribers I will choose 10 winners!

2 people will receive the program 50% off
2 people will receive the program 30% off
