It’s official, Whitney Texas School District moves to a Tuesday-Friday school week next school year! Thoughts???
.

I wonder if:
1) Does this mean a longer school year or less days off?
2) Do teachers come in on a Monday to prep?
3)What will some parents do about childcare?

ID LOVE TO TRY IT!

(October, 2021) When a student you taught in 8th grade is now in 11th and needs to show you the middle school photo they have of you giving a lesson dressed like Edgar Allan Poe. Thanks! 😝

🏈A heads up to have some Super Bowl fun with your students this week! For me, I’m having my students choose a team for a chance to win a homework pass on Monday. BONUS: Name the MVP and you get a snack too!
🏈It’ll be up all week for anyone to vote🏆

🏈Do you do something entirely different? Please share!

I totally screwed up Chiefs and Super Bowl, but that’s neither here nor there 👀

Would you be interested in a vlog series that follows how I TRY to incorporate AI/ChatGPT into my lessons? The series would include what I am doing, how it is going, and if I feel students are truly benefiting from it versus assuming they will only use it as a cheat tool. It well end with a FINAL decision of whether or not I’ll go again next year.

It is a semester-experiment that I am considering documenting.

Happy Chinese New Year, 🐍 The Chinese zodiac says if you’re the year of the snake, you are thought to do “whatever it takes to accomplish a goal.” I’m the year of the 🐇 & apparenty have unique qualities & attract success 🤷‍♀️What’s your sign and what does it say about you?

Today also marks the LAST DAY of semster 1! What!? Since I taught English and traveled in China for a year, I decided to end with some show-and-tell and a few videos from my time there, including everything I remember about Chinese New Year 💥💥💥
.
.
.
.
It was so much fun to talk about China again. I showed them the schools I taught in, how I blogged, The Great Wall, Shanghia, food OF COURSE, the “famous” kid (Duo Duo) I taught whose dad is still called Eagle Dad, and more! I wish I shared this with them sooner. So many questions I didn’t have time to answer.
.
.
.
.

I intentionally shared how small steps & sacrifice led to my goal, and that if I could sell my car to afford my flight, leave my (then) bf, and know zero mandarin, they could do something like this too. Just do it.💫💫

Only a few days before Semester ll! One of my favorites of being a high school teacher is that I get to interact with new students throughout the year. Semester ll always inspires me to take classroom and mental inventory.

If you’d like to see my “process in a action”, check out my latest vlog 😁

What is your go-to social media for tips/information?

I been on the fence lately about ending my Tiktok social so that I can focus more on YouTube. I feel like the only reason I use Tiktok is because it seems to be where people are these days…for everything. Personally, I don’t care for Tiktok content, I just create it. No hate, just my preference.

What are you into, mostly?

What’s your favorite way to reward students? Share more in the comments ⬇️⬇️

(I have something called a merit point system…it is simple and leads to a class raffle every Friday)

HAVE YOU EVER had to be creative because you forgot a fork or spoon for lunch? What have you done!??? This was me on Friday 👀

Sometimes I will ask a colleague, but usually I fend for myself. It’s not laziness or being antisocial….when I have to grade essays, don’t nobody got time fa dat!
