One year ago today, I posted my first video to the channel, 'Why Homekit?'. I had little experience with video editing, hadn't spent a minute on camera and one day woke up with this crazy idea to start making videos. My daughter lent me her ring light, I purchased a wired microphone from Amazon and I used my iPhone to shoot the footage with way too many takes and what felt like 100s of jump cuts. I thought the kitchen table was a great space to shoot (shrug), my head was sometimes cut off or the angle was wrong. I used iMovie which was great for beginners for my first few videos. It just goes to show you can start wherever you're at with whatever equipment you have. I've always been an Apple guy with a love for Smart home tech and I hoped that my content would help someone else out there confused and overwhelmed like me when I got my first Philips Hue starter kit.
I am so thankful I made the leap and that so many of you chose to come with me for the ride. I didn't realize there was such an amazing Smart Home and Homekit community. While I am not too concerned about the 'numbers', they do help guide my content and give me an indication of where to focus my efforts and what my viewers are interested in. Over the last year, I have posted just over 50 videos, the channel reached 500k views and has just shy of 7k subscribers. Somehow 125k unique viewers have watched my videos over the past 90 days. I've had the opportunity to collaborate with some amazing companies and create some dedicated content for Eve's channel. This blows my mind. I can't miss giving a huge shout out to all the other amazing creators who have shared feedback and inspired me with their content as well.
Thank you for your support, it means the world. I can't wait to see what 2022 brings for our Smart Homes and for the channel!
