Hello, I figured I would give a short blurb of how I got into HAM radio, let alone radios in general. I was a Volunteer and Paid Emergency Medical Technician for various organizations near my QTH and every since I have joined emergency services I have always loved working on radios, I currently am a radio operator for the Army. Whether it was programming or simply just using radios I enjoyed all aspects of two way communications. On one of my assignments for my paid EMS job I was sent to a Campground for Boy Scouts in New York where cell service was non-existent and radios were not doing so well due to wear. I offered to plan, installed, and a base station and better portables (HTs) for the camp and while doing so I was confronted by a scout master who also turned out to be a HAM operator.
