EU viewers beware! Saturday's video will include for the first time the short-term trends for the German market. This should make the videos more relevant for EU viewers and support them in their buying or selling decision making process. I will gradually introduce the German market to other popular videos as well, and in some cases, also include the UK market.
Two weeks ago I pointed out that the recent developments in the US 992 Turbo's price trend show that it could be a good moment to buy one from a depreciation perspective: https://youtu.be/15nITzYJlVk?si=MSYKS...
In the latest Collecting Cars podcast, Edward Lovett talks (31:57) about the UK market and confirms that 992 Turbos could be a good buy at the moment. "I think you will struggle to find another car on the road that will beat it and I think it will probably look after you quite well from a depreciation point of view"
I just uploaded a price trend analysis for the Lamborghini Huracan. This video was requested by many of you. Even if you are not in the market for one, it is worthwhile to give it a watch. It includes prices trends for the 911 GT3, GT3RS, R8 V10, Acura NSX, Ferrari 458, 488, F8, and Maserati MC20.
What would you like to know about the mid-engine Ferrari market (F355 - SF90)? I will try to answer as many questions as possible in the next market update video.
More content is on its way! I will upload one extra video per week in a #shorts format. These videos will cover models that are not popular enough to make a full 'market update' video. Think about the Evora GT, SLS AMG, Acura NSX etc. While they will not be as detailed as you are used to, you will get a sense of where the market is heading. Of course, if the video turns out to be a hit, you can expect a full fledge market update the next time.
With this approach I am hoping to cater to the data needs of all of you and expand beyond the popular Porsche videos. Naturally, new models that are likely to be immediately popular (think about BMW M cars for example) will still get their own full 'market update' video.
Have a look at the vertical axis 👀. It will still take a while before I can post European market analyses, but a lot of work is being done behind the scenes!
*Short BMW i8 market update*
First generation BMW i8 prices just dropped to $67k. This means that they are now on par with pre-pandemic prices. While we are seeing this in an increasing number of markets, it is the velocity and linearity of the drop that stands out; Prices have been decreasing by approximately 3% per 3 months. It will be interesting to see if the spring season can turn the downward trend. What do you think?
Note by the way that on a like-for-like basis, i.e. comparing cars with the same miles, prices are still up by approximately 7%
Coming up later today: The top 5 cars that increased the most in value during 2022. If you followed the market updates throughout the year, the top 5 is not too surprising. Perhaps the most interesting price changes happened outside of that top 5....
Going live soon: The Porsche 911 Turbo market update covering the 996, 997, 991, and 992 segments. In only of them, prices are still higher than one year ago. Can you guess which one?
For which car would you like to see a market update!? Porsches are really popular but many of you have been requesting analyses for different brands. The number of cars for which I am tracking the prices continuously expands but with one video per week, I need to be selective in the cars for which I make a video. Let me know your thoughts.
Welcome to my channel. Here you will find the actual depreciation numbers and buying guides for a large variety of cars. I will show you the average market prices, depreciation per year, depreciation per 1000 miles, and the cars which offers the best value for money in the current market. Hence, by watching the videos you make sure that you are as informed as possible before purchasing your new car. Depending on the video, my analyses are based on the US, German, or UK market.
A large range of cars is covered including sports cars like a Porsche 911 or an Alfa Romeo 4C, supercars like Mclarens and Ferraris, and sports sedans like a BMW M3. Inspirations for the cars I find in the comments, so make sure to comment for which car you would like to see the next analysis. On special request, I also make analysis for individuals. These are tailored to specific requests such as appreciation potential or comparisons of different models.
