Hi everyone. We are still here. However, we've been overloaded with work and there hasn't been all that much to do a video on. However, we've seen a lot of changes announced yesterday and today, so a new video is coming in the next few days where we will go through what has been announced, what it means, and how will it actually impact everyone.

Apologies for the lack of a new video. We've had some staff away and, with the upcoming phase 2 of the 2021 One Off Resident Visa, we have been busy preparing clients for the application. As always our clients need to come before providing videos.
However, we do have a few things we want to cover when we can, both about the residence visa and the borders. Unfortunately the 8th February event in Wellington has been postponed due to the move to red, but there will be future work on finding a better solution.
In the meantime, if you are looking for assistance with a 2021 Residence Visa application, we still have space for a few more clients. Email arranh@shlaw.co.nz and we can send you out the initial form to get things moving.

Was working on a 2021 review video, but got to writing about May 2021 and wondered if anyone would actually want to watch a video about what has been a generally pretty bad year for so many people. Let me know if people want me to do a video covering the highlights/lowlights of each month of 2021.

So, today could have gone much better for the 21RV application opening. The website effectively went offline soon after opening, and has been running very slowly all day. We've been working on it all day and it has been a nightmare. So we'll be back doing it all day tomorrow.
We will do a video about what we've learnt about the new system once we get the applications done, as our paying clients get priority for our time. Hopefully that will be sometime tomorrow.

We expect there will be more information coming through in the next week about the new 21RV residence visa so we'll be back with a video when they do come through. We still see some people misinterpreting the rules, so we expect there will be more and more from INZ on how they will apply them which may answer a few remaining questions people have.

We did mention that we'd be doing a video on the anomalies that the new S6 one off residence visa rules create, but we've been too busy to do one yet. However, that has allowed us to find several more issues with the rules. We'll try and get a video done this week, as the session with INZ on Friday may answer some of our questions.

We're going to try and post a video tonight to cover a lot of the most asked questions we have been seeing and hearing. We can probably answer most of them, but some won't be answerable until once they release the official operational manual changes.

We hear that there will be an announcement tomorrow. I wish we could say what it is likely to be, but we aren't confident enough yet (though our sources are good, but still not 100% on what the final choice will be). However, from what we hear, this will be an announcement for those who are onshore, so in New Zealand, and probably won't impact those who are offshore. However, we will be covering it in a video as soon as it is released (and before that if we can get confirmation).

There is a lot about to happen, mainly around the residence space for those in New Zealand. We're still waiting for the final word, and will get a video up as soon as it comes out, or when we're confident that we can sort the rumour from the fact. The latest indicator is that it will be announced this week, but we've been waiting for some time. What we can say is that there will be some good news for some, some bad news for others, and most likely a lot of confusion.
