Oscars are very popular aquarium fish and are very โpersonableโ pets. They are strictly freshwater and are natively found in the upper regions of South America. Due to a stocking event in the 1950s by aquarium fish farms in South Florida, there is now a non-native breeding population of Oscars that have established themselves in that area. They are no danger to humans and are not listed by the IUCN ๐ฎโ๐จ
