Tom Petty is now officially a Doctor of Music! Today the UF School of Music in Tomâs hometown of Gainesville has conferred upon him an honorary doctorate degree. It is an honor Tom really wanted during his lifetime. Bruce Petty, Tomâs brother, shared these words:
âI donât think anyone in our family, including him, thought that he would be linked with the University of Florida this way. Itâs such a powerful thing, it was his lifelong dream, and I know he would just be over-the-top, crazy happy about it.â
