The Vanguard Method is a form of systems thinking developed by John Seddon and his colleagues which enables managers to study the way work flows through their service organisation.
The understanding gained from these studies allows managers to redesign their service as a system, concentrating on doing what matters to the customer.
By focussing on delivering value to the end user, many counter intuitive truths are discovered: for example, the costs of the service fall.
