ā€œThe Blind Robotā€ returns! In this weekā€™s webcomic, Rove discovers all the ways in which his guide bot, Mr Motor, helps him find things he canā€™t see on his own. Just like Mr Maple helps me find doors, stairs, and chairs! And if youā€™ve ever wondered how Mr Maple feels about my husband, Matthew, the fourth panel should answer that question šŸ„°

This weekā€™s edition of ā€œThe Blind Robotā€ was inspired by the many awkward moments Iā€™ve experienced as a blind person, but especially the ill-fated hand shake! Whether Iā€™m leaving someone hanging, or reaching out and grabbing the wrong thing, introductions often leave me blushing. Thatā€™s why I prefer a hug! The day I met my husband, Matthew, I opened my arms as wide as they would go and he leaned right in for an embrace šŸ¤— Best introduction ever! #blind #awkward #illustrator #artist #webcomic

Episode 9 of ā€œThe Blind Robotā€! This week weā€™re talking about descriptive language! For people with low or no vision, detailed descriptions are key to understanding the world around us. Have you ever watched a movie or TV show with the audio descriptions turned on? I am always amazed at how well done they are. As a very visual person (who just happens to be blind!) I appreciate these descriptions because they allow me to play a movie in my mind. But in the absence of necessity, a lot of sighted people donā€™t take the time to describe things with the same level of detail. Iā€™m very lucky because my husband, Matthew, learned quickly to become more descriptive, and after 8 years of practice heā€™s even better than me! However, if heā€™s had a long day or a bad sleep, heā€™s been known to give me the ā€œlike a pieā€ response šŸ˜‚ Sometimes life is too short for a long description! šŸ¤£

We had our first date on June 10th 2016, exactly 8 years ago. I didn't know it at the time but it was a day that would change both of our lives forever. We first met online then planned a special lunch date after which Matthew gave me a violin lesson and I gave him a painting lesson...

We were both just a couple of struggling artists, meeting up to share our art with each other. I took this picture of Mathew's painting because I was so impressed! I can't say the same about my violin playing!! I'll leave that to Matthew šŸ˜‚
