Pseudomyxoma Peritonei is a rare cancer that affects just 2-3 people per million per annum. First diagnosed in 2009 I underwent a cutting edge 12 hour surgery known as the Sugarbaker technique or complete cytoreductive surgery at Basingstoke and North hampshire hospital (one of two specialist centres in the UK) for treatment followed by 4 days of Heated Intraperitoneal Chemotherapy (HIPEC). This was followed by another 6 hour surgery in 2012 following a reoccurrence. I am now living on âwatch and waitâ as this rare cancer has reoccurred for a third time.
Determined to live my best life as long as I am able...
