"While America Waited, Some People Were Still Getting Paid"
The Government Shutdown Is (Almost) Over – But Here's What Most People Missed...
After 41 days, the longest government shutdown in U.S. history is finally coming to an end.
Late Monday night, the Senate passed a funding bill 60-40 to reopen the government. It now heads to the House, which could vote as early as today, before landing on President Trump's desk for his signature.
Here's what happened:
1.25 million federal workers went without paychecks since October 1st
Thousands of flights were canceled due to overworked, unpaid air traffic controllers
42 million Americans faced disruptions to their SNAP food assistance benefits
National parks closed, airport delays skyrocketed, and federal services ground to a halt
The Congressional Budget Office estimates this shutdown will permanently cost the economy $11 billion
Senator Susan Collins said it best after the vote: "We are going to reopen government. Federal employees will now receive compensation that they've earned and deserve."
But here's what the news ISN'T telling you...
While over a million federal workers struggled without pay, while flights were canceled, while Americans worried about their benefits – some people were STILL winning government contracts and getting paid.
I'm not talking about politicians or lobbyists.
I'm talking about everyday entrepreneurs who understand how government contracting actually works.
My students were still winning contracts during the shutdown.
I personally received payments on MY contracts during the shutdown.
How is that possible when the government was "shut down"?
Because here's the truth most people don't understand: Not all government spending stops during a shutdown.
According to the sources, programs funded by separate laws or fees continue. Essential services continue. And yes – certain contracts continue to be awarded and paid.
The EPA kept 4,400 employees working on "significant agency activities." The Superfund program continued operations. Defense contracts moved forward. Veterans' benefits continued.
While the media focused on chaos, those who understood the system were still doing business.
Now, I'm not saying government contracting is perfect. The shutdown caused real disruptions – $800 million in new contracts were delayed daily, according to Oxford Economics. Some agencies slowed down.
But here's my point: The people who understood the game didn't stop. They adapted. They knew which agencies were still operating. They knew which contracts were still being funded.
The shutdown exposed something critical: Relying solely on a government job – or any single income source – is risky.
1.25 million federal workers just learned that lesson the hard way. Two missed paychecks. Bills piling up. Uncertainty for 41 days.
But government contracting as a BUSINESS? That's different.
You're not an employee at the mercy of political gridlock. You're an entrepreneur who understands how to navigate the system, diversify your contracts, and position yourself to get paid even when things get chaotic.
The government shutdown is ending. But the lesson remains:
Don't put all your eggs in one basket. Don't rely solely on your 9-to-5. Don't wait for politicians to figure things out before you secure your financial future.
Government contracting is still one of the most reliable business models available – IF you know what you're doing.
The federal government will spend TRILLIONS this year. That money is going somewhere. Why not position yourself to capture some of it?
I'm hosting a FREE masterclass this Friday at 7pm EST where I'll show you exactly how ordinary people are building six and seven-figure businesses through government contracting – even during shutdowns, recessions, and political chaos.
No political agenda. No left or right. Just business strategy and real results.

Wow… Facebook just reminded me of this memory from 2017. 🙏
Back then, I was teaching kids English online with VIPKID — 286 days, 438 students, all one-on-one. Each class taught me so much about connection, patience, and how powerful online education can be. 🌎
That experience gave me a deep appreciation for the impact of one-on-one teaching and the ability to reach people across the world from my laptop.
It’s amazing to look back and see how those moments shaped my love for teaching and helping others grow. Grateful for every student, every smile, and every lesson learned along the way. 🙌
