Born in a musical family, Shusmita Anis is the niece and devoted disciple of the legendary Nazrul Sangeet singer Feroza Begum. She has specialized in Nazrul Sangeet and modern Bengali songs, especially those tuned by her uncle, the legendary music composer of Indian subcontinent, Kamal Das Gupta. She also covers a wide range of musical genre with versatility and grandeur in her musical performances.
Shusmita Anis has released five audio album and one music video album: A Tribute to Kamal Dasgupta (1998), Chand Heriche Chand Mukh Tar (2006), Sei Gaan Sei Sur (2007), Ichche Nupur (2008), Shishirer Sporshe Gatha / Sound of Seasons (2015) and music video album Ehso He Shojol Shyam Ghno Deya (2016). Shusmtia has also released three extended plays: Mémoire Feroza Begum (2015), Basher Bashi (2015), and Amoni Borosha Chilo Shedin (2016).
