I worked with a collection of your quotes, full of extremes of emotion, and in there amongst the chaos was this beautiful grounded everyday comment, āI'm in a Church In Gravesend Drinking Coffeeā, which Michael McAfee has turned into an animated story built from the wider collection of quotes from where it came.

I made a lot of music with the more extreme quotes from the database, but being has as much to do with the everyday and things being ok too, so this was just as relevant a quote and experience, and something I wanted to include.
Within the song, I decided to use the sounds of me walking through forest, which is my own equivalent of the idea I thought the quote was about, but I wanted to find some similarly grounded instrumental source as well.
I hope you enjoy something within there today, and there's more delve into behind this project as we go along.

My new video as part of ā'True Under Certain Conditions" from the On Being audio-visual album is out today. It's a project created with physicist/creative coder Frederik Vanhoutte @wblut.
Working from the anonymous quote as the starting point led me to aesthetics of rigidity and rule based decision processes. The idea was to set up a basic structure which could have one element shifted to radically change the form, like the components of formal logic shifting to reveal truth or falsehood in a mechanical manner as mirrored in Frederickās video.
I also spoke the word ātrueā and chopped it into thousands of shifting fragments, which themselves occasionally reform into spoken truth. so if itās not already obvious, itās a techno track, no nice melodies this time.
I love how Frederik's algorithms create self contained worlds, little mountain ranges, lakes and sub-cutaneous cell structures blended together through his pixel growth decision process. We also chatted about how to represent a mechanical truth checking system via 3 vs 4 colour maps but that didn't pan out exactly, if thatās something you're working with let me know!
