Practicing for even a couple minutes every day can help (emphasis on *every*). It's only a couple minutes, but it can be enough to work its way into your long-term memory.
Practice makes permanent.
Aim to know your math facts like you know your own name. Don't calculate an arithmetic problem or use fancy tricks, just KNOW it. That way, when you're learning a new math skill, you're not using mental energy to calculate the arithmetic part of the problem. Instead, use your mental energy on learning the new stuff. It can be done, and you can do it. You're not sounding out each letter before you read each word anymore. You can have the same fluency with math.
