Sailing in Croatia is something we have been striving to do since purchasing a boat, and now finally we are heading there and looking forward to ticking Dubrovnik off the bucket list.
We head up the coast from Montenegro the short distance to Cavtat (pronounced Savtat) checking in at the customs dock.
Sailing in Croatia doesn’t disappoint and we are soon heading to the most famous part, Dubrovnik – Home of Game of Thrones the TV series.
Once again it doesn’t disappoint, but to walk round the outer walls we are floored by the cost of 34 euro. Dubrovnik turns out to be worth it though, especially as we enjoy it with new yachty friends on Red Roo.
It is amazing to walk and sit on the same steps and jetty where Game of Thrones was made, hard to believe it’s the same place.
Sailing in Croatia does have its downsides, one being the Bora wind system that hits us like a ton of bricks the first night on anchor in Cavtat. Luckily the anchor holds well I 40 knots and we can breathe again.
We visit anchorages at Lopud (David Beckham is here too) Saplunara, Srebreno, Pržina and Slano to name a few.
I try my hand at paddle boarding and we spring a leak on the diesel secondary filter.

Sailing out of Albania and heading for Montenegro after an easy checkout process is always a bonus, and to make things even better we have good winds to take us there.
Bar is where we head to as it is the nearest Port of Entry to Albania, and once we have completed formalities and obtained out Tourist Tax we are good to go explore. Heading up the coast we visit a few anchorages (Sutomore, Budva, Luštica Bay and Stradioti Island) before visiting the beautiful Porto Montenegro Marina and Tivat.
Hiring a car and heading into the mountains we aim straight for the famous ‘Tara Canyon’ zip line, reputed to be the longest one in Europe….maybe!
The old town of Budva and the Citadel are a must to visit, the buildings and atmosphere is awesome.

We take Kejstral out for the first time post antifouling and are amazed at the extra speed we have under sail. Our sail takes to the lovely Paradise Bay (Aydeniz Koyu) where we spend 3 days chilling, walking & catching up on yet more boat jobs.

Sailing our Beneteau Oceanis 46 around the world.
Our story began back in 2015 when we purchase our first sailing boat Kejstral, a Jenneau Sun Odyssey 36i. After upsizing to Ula we continue our original plan to sail to as many places as we can before we are no longer able to do so! We hope you find inspiration in our videos and consider taking that leap of faith we did!
