Men, women painted their faces carrying placards while marching into the main Tari town.
They join millions around the country at this time of loss.
Many say under the oversight of the late Sir Michael Hela came to be a province and established its arms of government.
The late Sir Michael played an important role to initiate the PNG LNG Project which is host to the project.
