About The Hampton Roads Youth Foundation
Formed in 1997, by a group of progressive thinkers, the Hampton Roads Youth Foundation (HRYF) was established with the objective of providing educational, social and economic programs for youth in the Hampton Roads community. The HRYF has worked successfully with allies who believe, support and stand for the same principles on which the organization was founded on.
From strategic partnerships to tireless volunteer labor, the HRYF has evolved to meet the challenges of the day, while remaining true to its original mission. With renewed commitment, the HRYF is poised to meet the challenges of the 21st century.
Mission Statement
The mission of the Hampton Roads Youth Foundation is to cultivate, develop, and manage programs which enhance and enrich the lives of at-risk children in Hampton Roads, Virginia area by promoting academic excellence, social responsibility and community service.
Using sports as a metaphor for life, the Hampton Roads Youth Foundation (HRYF) strives to serve as a catalyst for academic success and responsible citizenship. The same elements that contribute to athletic success - teamwork, discipline, goal setting and achievement are the same elements that contribute to success in any endeavor. A 501(c)3 tax-exempt organization, HRYF operates with the intent to educate through community service. To maximize its impact and effectiveness, HRYF leverages its resources through group and individual donations, sponsorships, partnerships, community resources and volunteers.
Through the Hampton Roads Youth Foundation, we have designed several programs to help build the character, leadership, mentorship and commitment in young people. We hope to inspire youth to become productive citizens through various program initiatives supported by the foundation. HRYF has a broad commitment to young people in communities throughout the Hampton Roads area. We have designed and implemented several programs to assist youth in the Hampton Roads area.
