You know you must be hitting some raw nerves when a sophisticated hacker puts a lot of time into trying to destroy this documentary channel and everything on it. But YouTube and good friends came to the rescue. Please bear with us as we fix a few things. And thanks for sticking with it.

What I use to get good audio. I’ve always been good at making connections and tight and reliable joints. It’s made a difference in the most demanding situations - in noisy crowds and near riots. So it is with great pride that I share my latest dongle. The old one became erratic after years of yanking. It allowed me to pick up great sound from my very directional shotgun microphone while a tiny lavalier microphone picked up my questions. The two-mic feed gets divided inside the body of the right-angle XLR connector. The shotgun is plugged into the XLR, and the lav goes into a mini-plug to switch lavs. The output is two identical coiled right-angle stereo plugs from the XLR. One is feeding the two audio channels of the camcorder, and the other is plugged into a micro audio recorder, which I use to monitor my audio. It amplifies and provides instant audio without that annoying microsecond delay on my digital camcorder. Happy to supply additional details to anyone. Eddie

I've passed through many incarnations, my philosophy can best be described here. My wanderings through complex realities are entirely subjective. I decide what to cover, when to start recording, and what to record. Open to what stories might be revealed, ask questions, and figure out camera movement as I unfold the story. I return to the edit with a couple of hours or more of footage and a jumble of impressions and spend many more hours crafting the edit. Agonizing over what to cut out without losing the story or causing confusion, adding additional research and documentation. The final piece reflects my interpretation of reality, confusing Google algorithms, and limiting search. So if you see something you like, pass it on. Happy to help aspiring documentarians.
