Imo realistically speaking it kinda is useless, if you aim for completely getting rid of hate speech. Or constantly complain about something like the usage of the N-word, or other forms of bigotry.
The Internet if you think of it, is a big hive mind a collection of thoughts similar to a bee or ant hive.
Either every information is free or everything is banned,
either the internet is uncensored or it isnβt.
A hive mind doesnβt have nuance it only does, what is good for itself and doesnβt do, what isnβt good for itself.
The internet is a free flow of information, censoring it would make it essentially useless, and just a waste of money running it if the point was defeated.
If you donβt like the idea, that somebody you donβt like can use it. Then why do you allow people to have it, if it just will inevitably be used by someone who wants to act bad in the first place.
Essentially do you want to give trolls the ability to be assholes, without real consequences.
Or do you want them to not have the ability to be assholes without consequences, but they can avoid their consequences every time very easily.
In my personal opinion as someone who always thought essentially, that A.I and the Internet is a overpraised and kinda useless technology over the long term (for humans i might add).
I think shutting it off and going back to a system, far more adapted to the real world and focused more on a inter connected local system and then try to develop and advance that system, is more important than a industry that essentially can be shut off just like that.
