Sultan Mehmed II's death at the age of 49 had sparked rumors of poisoning, with theories suggesting involvement by the Janissaries or Grand Vizier Karamani Mehmed Pasha due to discontent with Mehmed's reforms or personal power struggles.
Proposed poisons include arsenic or aconitum (wolfsbane), potentially administered through food or water. However, these claims lack concrete evidence, and many historians argue that Mehmed died from natural causes.

Sultan Mehmed II, also known as Fatih Sultan Mehmed Khan, once underestimated by his father, Sultan Murad II, proved him wrong through his remarkable achievements. Murad II had favored his eldest son, Alaeddin Ali Çelebi, to succeed him, grooming him for the throne. However, fate had other plans, and Alaeddin's untimely death led to Mehmed's ascent.
Murad II's disfavor towards Mehmed stemmed from his youth and inexperience, leading him to doubt his son's ability to rule. However, Mehmed's determination and ambition drove him to succeed, not just making him the greatest Ottoman Sultan but also one of the best Muslim rulers ever lived.
Mehmed's conquest of Constantinople, expansion of the empire, and establishment of a strong administrative system showcased his capabilities, contradicting his father's doubts but he was never able to see his son success. His legacy paved the way for future generations, including his grandson Sultan Yavuz Selim and Sultan Suleiman the Magnificent, who further solidified Ottoman dominance and established the Ottoman Caliphate, which ruled as a superpower for the next 300 years until the World War I.
