The Tuesday Night Machines’ guide to choosing a Gotharman synthesizer ;-)
Since Gotharman posted an instrument comparison table on gotharman.dk/ recently, I thought I'd create a little buyer's guide as well. Here are questions I've received over the years, with super simple (biased) answers ;-)
“I’m new to Gotharman and don’t know which instrument to get.”

“I want a groovebox.”

“I want Gotharman, but I hate touch screens.”

“I had a hard time with the Octatrack.”

“Which Little deFormer 3 expansions should I get?”
Must have: Analog board and 4x audio I/O.
Buy now or later: One or two analog filter boards.
Only if you really need it: Extra sample memory, CV I/O, 6x audio I/O.
Not necessary, but nice: Blue LEDs on steps 1, 5, 9 and 13.
Not necessary: Blue LEDs on all steps.
“I’m new to Gotharman, which filter boards should I get?”
VCF2 Dual Filter and VCF10 Dual SSI2140 Filter.
“I like Acid. Which filter board should I get?”
VCF14 Transistor Ladder Filter.
“I like to destroy audio signals. Which filter boards should I get?”
VCF7 Tubaz and/or VCF9 Xtra Distortion.
“What about the other filter boards?”

“I disagree with you!”

Gotharman’s Zaturn modular synthesizer is now also available without the real analog filter boards. As a replacement, Flemming developed new software filter effects. This brings down the cost of the synth, which I think is nice in these current times. Owners of an analog filter Zaturn, can conveniently switch between analog and digital versions of individual filters in the VCF menu, so we get the new effects too 👍
Installed some lights in the new wardrobe ☀️ Still looking for an affordable audio-reactive LED solution with a line-in socket 🤷♂️
My PAX wardrobe has been too big for a while (who would have thought?! 😅), so my plan for the next months is to downsize into a smaller space. Introducing SUZELLE, my new secretary wardrobe and future home of a selection of my favorite synthesizers.
