California wildfires: LA Mayor Karen Bass is told not to answer a question about the wildfires. What does that reveal about the sincerity of Bass's responses and real agenda? Press conferences should be enlightening for viewers; however, does Bass have other priorities? What do Bass's responses tell us about so much of the rhetoric that politicians use on a daily basis?

What makes this interview from 'What Is a Woman?' escalate? How does congressman Mark Takano respond to Matt Walsh’s questions, and how do his responses expose the worldview of so many likeminded politicians and celebrities? This cringeworthy “emotional reading” unintentionally demonstrates how “psychic mediums” deceive people. What are some of the major signs of deceptive language and behavior? And what do “psychic readings” tell us about the entire entertainment industry? This video is one of the most thorough I’ve made about identifying lies and deception in all types of conversations. I hope you enjoy.

This brand new video is back after being blocked.

How did Obama's speeches set a precedent for how politicians, celebrities, and people in general have talked about identity politics and "woke culture" ever since? Are Obama's word choice and arguments as sincere and convincing as he makes them seem, or do they reveal a much different truth? There are comparisons to Matt Walsh’s “What Is a Woman?” interviews with Dr. Michelle Forcier and professor Patrick Grzanka.

I hope you enjoy it. Have a nice day.

September 1 means birthday, and birthday means a visit to my favorite American-style restaurant with the kind of food that keeps me making videos.

This year was a special one. This year, the channel passed 100.000 subscribers.

Three years ago, I started this channel with a goal: to share my lifelong interest in Linguistics with as many people as possible. It was and still is my belief that academic concepts and principles shouldn’t only be taught in college classrooms and auditoriums. They’re for everyone and can be communicated in other ways than three hour lectures in auditoriums and classrooms.

Having a channel is a collaborative effort, so every milestone the channel reaches is only possible because of you. I thank each and every one of you for your encouraging and perceptive comments, shares, and views.

I still remember the very first subscribers, and I recognize a lot of you from video to video. No matter if you joined three years ago or yesterday, I appreciate you taking the time to be a part of this channel.
Since the average video takes 20 hours to make (research, planning, recording, editing), it’s important for me to keep making content that you want to see. Even if you don’t always find the subject matter interesting, I’ll do my very best to make every video as relevant as possible.

I hope you all have a great day with nice weather and good food. Let’s not forget that sometimes it’s okay to lose track of calories and skip exercise :)

Best
Martin

I recorded this one a month ago. It’s one of the most detailed and relevant videos I’ve made. It demonstrates how to identify and deal with hostility in conversations/debates.

“Fun” fact: I had high fever while recording this. It takes more to stop a determined linguist…well, at least until I stopped recording and went back to bed…for 3 days 😲

Enjoy.

I'm finally able to share this video with you. This is an in-depth Conversation and Statement Analysis with lots of revealing points and points you can use to decode your own conversations, when it comes to unreliable language. I'm quite happy with the result. What do you think about the interview?
