I'll start by saying I'm sorry for the lack of content, but right now I think there's something you need to know.

Each and every one of you is a shining star, unique and brilliant. No matter how dimly you may shine, the fact that you're still here is amazing. Life is hard and painful, and you still being here despite that is an incredible achievement. The friends and family you make will form the most beautiful constellation, ones that will be cherished until the end of time. Carrying on through all the tears is proof of your strength, and I love and admire you all for still being here. No matter how sad you feel, no matter how unimportant you feel, know that without stars like you the sky would be a much darker and lonelier place. Don't forget to smile, and give yourself a big gold star every day you choose to live.

I don't think I've been this hyped for anything Pokemon related since Omega Ruby and Alpha Sapphire. This is so cool, and Meloetta is the perfect companion for her, and maybe my 2nd favorite pokemon. If she appears in a pokemon game Imma flip

I just wanna talk about some good old Hatsune Miku, perhaps one of the most important figures in my adolescent years. The only thing I knew about Miku for the longest time was the song Ievan Polkka, I thought it was a cute and catchy tune and I found her voice pleasant on the ears. I want to say it was around 2015 on the 3DS's video app where I saw the adds for Project Mirai DX, featuring the now infamous Mikudayo in all her uncanny glory. I love these ads, and they were what sparked my interest in Miku and sonetime in 2016 I downloaded the demo for that same game. It only featured two songs, LOL Lots of Laughs, and Senbonzakura, I picked Senbonzakura first and it was one of the biggest thrills I've experienced from a game. The music, setpiece and note chart burned into my soul and not only remain my favorite Miku song to this day but also made me say "I need to buy this game as soon as possible" which I did. It might be a stretch to say Miku got me through high school but at the same time those years of playing Project Mirai DX were kind if special, hanging with Miku, buying weird furniture, giving her money she wastes all the time. Essentially being like a virtual pet or something, I played the game daily always going through my favorite songs, including World is Mine, 1 2 Fanclub, Clover Club and YumeYume.
And I think YumeYume and that game as whole kind of encapsulates what makes Miku so special to me, it's just lighthearted warm and free. And while she can have some dark songs, at the end of the day Miku brings people together to enjoy unique and powerful music. She helped me learn to really appreciate music and Japanese media a lot more than I did before, and while I wouldn't say I'm a big vocaloid fan or anything, Miku will always hold a special place in my heart. I love her design, her songs, the unique outfits she wears. There's a Miku song for everyone, and she can make you smile, laugh, and cry. I love Miku, and you should too, either way I hope you're day is good and don't forget to smile!

To celebrate the announcement of Crymachina, a spiritual successor to Crystar, I wanted to talk about the cast of Crystar. And who better to start with than the main character.

Spoilers for Crystar

Rei Hatada is best described by her sister Mirai, as a "shut-in potato eater" due to her strange diet and her tendency to stay exclusively in her room. Rei and Mirai lost their parents a few years before the game takes place, and Mirai has more or less been taking care of big sister all that time. Rei hardly ever attends school, claiming to be a member of the "Going Home Club" and at home she spends her time idling by with various distractions, such as books, her phone, music and her dog Thelema.
Rei is known to break promises she makes, and is overall unreliable. Quiet and unsure how to socialize she didn't have friends in school, aside from a girl named Yuri Minano who was asked by her teacher to befriend Rei.
I think it's pretty safe to say Rei is depressed, and accidentally killing Mirai certainly didn't help with that. As Rei goes through Purgatory to save Mirai soul she meets new companions, and while things seem fine on the surface there are things eating away at her. Things like her taking pleasure in destroying the souls in Purgatory, recruiting allies purely for her own gain, ignoring everyone to reach her goal. It all reaches a boiling point when Thelema passes away, and Rei is unable to shed tears, just bitter and impatient she leaves her friends thinking things will be easier. She quickly realizes her mistakes, and takes a moment to stop and release her emotions, and apologize to her teammates who decide to forgive and stick with her until the end.
I think Rei is a character you're intended to see yourself in, and relating to and understanding her is what makes her so good. She can smile and laugh, but deep down she's hurting and aimless, wasting her days away with no motivation, relying on others just to survive. Her guardian Heraclitus is named after the philosopher known for being cynical and melancholic, who sees the world as ever changing yet always staying the same.
I got pretty attached to Rei, noticing how my daily routine and habits mirrored hers. Staying at home all day, unmotivated and barely getting by, not taking great care of myself. Thinking bad things and feeling remorseful and undeserving, growing up with next to no friends. She's my favorite character in the whole cast because of it, as well as her solid character design. At home she's dripped out and in Purgatory she rocks a white and blue dress with a unicorn motif, surprisingly good looking. I wish we got more insight on Rei's life and history, same with all the other characters tbh, but either way I really like Rei flaws and all. The goofy, potato loving sad gamer girl. If you read this far thank you, maybe give Crystar a shot and of course don't forget to smile.
