On Friday, my YouTube channel reached 100,000 subscribers.
I started my channel in 2016.
It took me 7 years to get from 0 - 10k subs.
It took 11 months to get from 10k - 50k.
It has taken 3 months to get from 50 - 100k.
Have you ever read a book called the Compound Effect? This is the Compound Effect in action.
Lots of people might of quit during those first 7 years. All you need to do, with anything you want to achieve, is to just keep going.

I’m a failed Campervanner.
We recently signed up a new client in France.
They had seen our YouTube channel and wanted us to go and remove their reliance on onsite servers and utilise more of the features and security of Microsoft 365.
So our French speaking engineer went to France and did his Microsoft 365 thing.
But I had another idea. I’d hire a campervan in Lille and drive around some of their offices to meet them.
Sounds ideal.
Except the first night didn’t go so well. It was hot and the camp site was a bit loud. Plus, the bed wasn’t like my super king I’ve got at home.
So for the next 6 nights, the campervan was parked up at various hotels around France whilst I sipped red wine.
I always wanted to be a campervan guy, but now I’ve tried it, I’ve decided it’s not for me.
But France, what a beautiful country.

Something I’ve learned about marketing
A few years ago we identified a local business we wanted to work with.
We cold called them.
We kept cold calling them until we got through to the decision maker.
He was pleasant enough on the phone but was clear we weren’t doing any business.
What did we do next?
We got his email address and started sending emails.
A few weeks later he unsubscribed.
What next?
I look back at that and think it was lazy and aggressive marketing. I don’t like being on the receiving end of either of those tactics.
So we changed our approach.
We started publishing several videos each week.
No outreach. Just write, film and publish.
I connected with that same guy on LinkedIn.
Earlier this week he sent me a message.
He’s been watching my videos for ages and thinks we’re an ideal fit for his business.
He’s not engaged with the videos once. Just watched them.
I’m meeting him next week.
That marketing feels better.
