Book Review: Economix: How Our Economy Works (and Doesn't Work), in Words and Pictures by Michael Goodwin
This book is about the economic history of America. It was made in a comic book style which made it a fun read. It was EXTREMELY interesting. The relation between economics and politics is profound and this book did an amazing job showing that relationship. Throughout the book, you may need to visit the glossary as it uses lots of jargon but not in a bad faith way. They can't spend 3 pages describing what capital is or a trade deficit but it does a decent job of making complex subjects simpler. Here is my favourite quote from the book, "It's not that government doesn't work - it's that we shouldn't assume it's working for us." I would highly recommend this book for everyone, not just people in economics or politics. Fantastic read, would be a 10/10 if it contained more perspectives than a primarily American one but if they tried to cover every country the book would be thousands of pages so I can't complain.

Book Review: How to Lie with Statistics by Darrel Huff
This book is quite old but has good information that is still relevant and useful. If you know nothing about statistics this book gives you a great introduction and insight into how statistics can be misleading. If you are looking to increase media literacy I’d recommend this. It’s short (under 150 pages) and easy to follow making it suitable for any reader. Overall, I enjoyed it but most of the information was review for me since I’ve taken courses in statistics.
