Hi everyone, and welcome especially to our new subscribers.
I'm happy to say that our website, www.irishbulletin.ie/, is finally almost ready and should be live soon, possibly this weekend. I will let you know when. Tá brón orm (sorry) for the delay, but it turns out that two bouts of covid and one 'flu in a year can really hamper your productivity.
See you soon!

Hi all. I have a really frustrating issue right now.
Six years ago, we filmed the Seán Treacy commemoration in Dublin. It is a hundred year old tradition which takes place every time Tipperary reaches the All-Ireland hurling final. This year is the first time since 2019 that they have done so, beating Kilkenny in a thrilling semi-final. It is something I have looked forward to filming for a long time. Except... I may have COVID-19 again. There is a really infective strain going around right now, and I was on public transport last week. It turns out not even an FFP2 mask is totally effective.
If by some chance a test is negative and I'm feeling better by Sunday, I will post here, but the likelihood is that I will have to miss this occasion. However, there are definitely more videos in the pipeline and I will battle my fatigue to get what can be done, done.
Greetings, Claire.

Hi all, this video is from our second channel, The Paper Wall, which explains politics in Ireland.
Irish law requires a UN mandate for any kind of military activity abroad. This was formalised initially to allow Irish soliders to go on UN peacekeeping missions, and redefined in response to voters' concerns about militarisation in the Nice and Lisbon EU treaties. Fianna Fáil promised that a referendum would be required to end the Triple Lock, but now states that neutrality is not threatened by ending the Triple Lock, which they now plan to do. This video explains all the context.
Please share if you can, as the government plans to pass this legislation soon.
Some more (non-political content) coming soon!

There were some copyright issues with yesterday's short on neutrality that couldn't be resolved so I uploaded it again. More videos coming soon. watch video on watch page

Hi everyone, and especially to our new subscribers. I hope you find something you like here, as we should be ramping up the production of videos from now on.
Did you know that Ireland wanted to fight against Italy's fascist regime in the 1930s? We've just made a short about the fascinating history of Ireland's military neutrality. For anyone who wants more context, I plan a longer video soon.

Today we were in Dublin as tens of thousands of Irish people marched to protest the genocide being enacted against the people of Gaza and the irish government's complicity, and to call for the enactment of the Occupied Territories Bill, which has already been approved by Ireland's legislature for some time.
"07 May 2025 Escalating atrocities in Gaza present an urgent moral crossroads and States must act now to end the violence or bear witness to the annihilation of the Palestinian population in Gaza – an outcome with irreversible consequences for our shared humanity and multilateral order, UN experts warned today, demanding immediate international intervention." bit.ly/4kpw0ue

Yesterday, on Easter Monday, we were at Castletown, Co. Wexford to visit the grave of patriot Liam Mellows (1892-1922). Mellows led the Galway Volunteers in 1916 before escaping to America to fundraise. On his return he was Director of Supplies for the IRA. He was elected as a TD to the first Dáil in 1918. He was captured by pro-treaty forces during the civil war and shot in captivity on December 8 1922.

Hi everyone, latest video is now up. It is a visit to an incredibly historic site in Co. Kildare, with a round tower. The monastic settlement survived Viking attacks and also had to undergo destruction by Cromwell's parliamentarian forces and got caught in the crossfire of the Battle of Kilcullen in 1798. Add the fact that it is in the shadow of a hillfort which was the seat of the kings of Leinster, and it is an extremely atmospheric and beautiful site. Have a look! watch video on watch page

Hi all! New video coming soon, probably tomorrow. It is one of our "Heritage Trails" series in which we film our explorations of Irish heritage sites. We actually have another couple of those almost ready to put out. I will post when they are ready. All the best!
