What if I told you that you could understand React so deeply that debugging becomes intuitive and performance optimization becomes second nature? That you could quickly recognize when an AI was giving you bad React code that would cause you trouble in the future, and guide it to build things right?

My course Understanding React is on sale through the end of August, as part of my end-of-summer sale! Check it out: understandingreact.com/

Current status: Working on two new AI courses. One for non-technical workers to help them cut through the hype and use LLMs well and responsibly. The other is on AI-assisted software development.

For the second we go under-the-hood of LLMs to build a good mental model of how they work, look at how to integrate AI into our software development workflows, and talk how AI impacts our lives and careers as devs.

Coming to Udemy in September.

⚛️ New React Course Alert! Just dropped "React: A Quick Understanding" on Udemy - a focused under-2-hour deep dive into how React really works under the hood.

Unlike tutorials that teach you to copy code, this builds your mental model so you can:
✅ Debug faster
✅ Make better architectural decisions
✅ Prompt AI tools effectively for React code

Covers new React 19's: "use" and Suspense boundaries.
Perfect if you want solid React fundamentals without committing to my 17-hour course (though it's great prep for that too! 😉). Plus we talk getting the best results from an LLM when generating React code.

Grab it with a discount here: www.udemy.com/course/react-quick-understanding/?co…

Would you trust an AI autopilot on your plane flight? One that might decide, every once in awhile, that the plane is higher off the ground than it really is?

The digital age has been built on the foundation of determinism, which in practice is a fancy term for digital reliability. We trust computers because they are consistent.

Remember that any article, quote, or post you read that talks about what AI will replace, without discussing the issues of non-determinism and hallucination/confabulation, is speaking out of ignorance or is selling you a product, not having an honest discussion about the reality of organizational needs.

Relying on a non-deterministic (i.e. randomly unreliable) autopilot would be insane. So is making financial decisions by feeding your spreadsheet to an AI.

LLMs are extremely useful, but non-determinism is a sandy reef upon which AI companies want to build the new digital age.

Don't get washed away by hype. Use LLMs wisely and judiciously. Check their outputs. Build your organizations on the strong deterministic, reliable foundations that have made the digital age possible.

I'm so pleased to announce that the major update to my course Learn and Understand NodeJS has been released!

New lectures on topics like Node's Promise-based APIs, CommonJS vs ES Modules, and an entirely new ending to the course using the PERN and MERN stacks.

The course is a deep dive into Node's internals, as we understand how it works at the C++ level, wrapping features around the V8 JavaScript engine.
