@EagleDynamicsTV has really been working on the game engine performance. Look at how flat that FPS curve is! In 2 hours of flying with the 2.9 patch I saw my frame rate stay locked to my monitor's refresh rate (VSYNC) with only 2 or 3 imperceptible dips. (I would not have even noticed the dips if I didn't have the FPS monitoring open.) In all the time I've been flying in DCS no combination of settings has ever given me this much of stutter-free experience.
